“What we see on our screens matter… Prayer turns the dial.” —Kathleen Cooke
Kathleen Cooke recently represented the media and creative arts at the launch event of the Nehemiah Alliance, a national organization calling for the healing and restoration of our nation. Her prayer for those shaping culture through film, television and the arts was a prayer for courage: to stand for truth in a generation that seeks authenticity.
This October 31st, she joins others at the National Mall for a sacred assembly of prayer, fasting, and repentance.
Kathleen shares:
Nehemiah did the unthinkable. He rebuilt the walls that surrounded the city of Jerusalem in 52 days. Today our world is confronted with overwhelming, unthinkable issues that we can’t seem to make a dent in — wars, famine, disease, climate issues, and many more.
What if we prayed, fasted, and followed Nehemiah’s example for our nation today?
The Nehemiah Alliance Movement began on September 10th, and I was honored to pray at the launch event at the Tennessee State Capitol, representing those in the creative arts.
Will you join me?
On All Saints’ Day, October 31st, in Washington, DC, I join key leaders voicing a prayer for healing and restoration of our country. My focused prayer will be for those working in media, entertainment, arts, music, and leadership to rise up and be bold leaders, using their artistic skills and talents to rebuild our country.
You can join us on the Main Mall for this culminating gathering or online: https://na52.org/.
Let us unite to be “one nation under God!” —Kathleen
Are you a creative working in media and arts?
Here is Kathleen’s prayer that she prayed at the Tennessee State Capital. It’s our prayer for you:
“God, our Father, in the very first verse of Scripture, You revealed Yourself as the Creator:
“In the beginning, God created…”
And because we are made in Your image, You have placed within us the God-given capacity to create, imagine, build, and influence. So today, I call artists and creatives around the world to unite in prayer for the next 52 days, just as Nehemiah called God’s people to pray and rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.
We pray for those shaping culture through film, television, music, dance, AI, digital media, art, fashion, social media, and every form of creative expression. Lord, give us courage to create, wisdom to lead, excellence to steward our gifts, and boldness to stand for truth.
May what we create — not simply entertain — but transform. So, Creator God, use our creativity to rebuild, restore, and reshape culture for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
